JULY, 2009:
Enjoying life at Tuckridge Lodge, surrounded by a bounty of Cascade wildflowers, berries, ferns and old growth. Aside from the necessary precautions of co-existing with the wildlife and the addied 45 minutes of travel time for Portland - life is damn good. Tons of new projects cooking. BeerCityTV, helping Dan Kaufman with the live broadcasts of Crank My Chain on Wednesdays and plotting the course for the next short film contest with Jesse and Renee. Woot!

JUNE - 2009:

Still blogging here: http://keeneymedia.blogspot.com and the Facebook.

Saw a funny shirt today - "Come over to Myspace so I can Twitter all over your Facebook".

April, 2009 - Another fine day in the lovely town of Bellingham.

I love pocket cameras! Canon Powershots are a handy little toy for times such as this - one of my favorite Oregon relaxation destinations.

February 18th, 2009 • Just returned from an epic road trip to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I had never really been to Colorado before, other than a trip to my Mom's hometown of Steamboat when I was four, so this trip was a long-time-coming. My love Kelly is from Boulder, so Kelly, Sullivan and I loaded up The-Little-Passport-that-could, and drove down for two weeks of exploring, snowboarding and visiting friends and family. Many fine pictures and stories to tell - stay tuned here for some pictures - or if you must - find me on Facebook.

THIS JUST IN!!! • I'm a member of the Portland Urban Mountain Pedalers, Portland's Mountain biking club. I've been learning more and more about mountain bike advocacy, and there really isn't any single track to speak of in the immediate Portland area (other than the ONE short piece in Forest Park) - the PUMP club does all it can to foster positive relationships in the community to help find new solutions. Recent efforts already helped get cyclists invited to a parks meeting with Nick Fish in January (Nick is the new Commissioner overseeing Parks) and now his office is arranging another meeting (with PUMP representatives participating) to focus on parks and cycling - this is great progress toward an overdue solution! January 7th, 2009 • This is a little piece I shot of my local barber Wayne. It was a spur of the moment thing, didn't have any lighting gear with me. Shot this about two years ago, finally got around to editing something for him. Great guy!

December 4th, 2008 • Dotcom woes, economy slows
. The last two years has found me deeply vested in my work for Test Drive Videos, which has been rewarding and fulfilling taking on such a huge responsibility. The company has wound up in a tight spot financially which has forced us to put her into hibernation. We'll still be producing content and working on the occasional project, but I'm now back in the saddle at the home office, preparing to tackle a mountain of independent projects which have been demanding my attention and sitting on the shelf way too long. Things to look for in the future here: Pacific Northwest Cyclocross Documentary, Beer City TV, Snomad Television, Small Video for Small Business, What is Cool?, Video Blogging for past recordings of Fishbone, Secret Chiefs and Mike Watt, an edit of the fantastic trip to the Alvord Desert this summer and a few other surprises we have up our sleeves. Stay tuned. Stay in touch!

March, 6th, 2008 • Suddenly I'm back! I make this post after a record-busy 3 months. Ridiculous actually... too many jobs, too many projects - not nearly enough time in the days and nights. Way too much to address here, so for those who care I'm sending you into the land of Myspace. See my blogs and other fun stuff here.

Not enough? Still want more interconnectivity? Facebook? Flickr Photo? Got that too. :)

December 10th, 2007 • And another month goes by between updates. What new? Too much to type here... but a few highlights: Finished the edit of a mini-documentary I produced for Test Drive Videos about a vintage Porsche restoration and racing company out in McMinnville. Super cool cat named Rod who owns and runs the deal... it's projects like this that make me love what I do. Getting out in the world and meeting new people and learning about what they do. Watch the piece here.

And... the Snomad machine rolls forward. After many years of pre-production, test shooting, host searching... it is all finally coming together. JD Platt is our host... and this week we're off to Utah to shoot our first official show! Super stoked. We'll be at Brighton and Solitude learning about the area, meeting the folks and hopefully skiing some of that legendary Utah pow pow! Pics and clips online very soon upon our return!

November, 9th, 2007 • Music! Got turned on to The Bad Plus recently. Just downloaded their newest album "Prog". Super cool jazz trio. Mellow and upbeat/kick ass at times. They cover Tom Sawyer by Rush. No shit! Loving this record. Good stuff. Also - thanks to the old Myspace I'm getting back in touch with some of the old fellas from the once mighty Village Idiot of Portland. They're all in different bands these days - some in my neighborhood. Small world.

Saw the most recent Absinthe film last night Optimistic. Alaska has never looked so good on film! (16mm that is... no vid). My favorite part was the Marc Frank Montoya's segment - classic - he sprays unsuspecting gapers standing in the middle of runs talking on cellphones. A long-time coming.

October 15th, 2007 • Alas - another month sneaks by. Still cranking out mad car videos for the dotcommer. Peep one of my favorites thus far here.
Off to celebrate Mr. Cavender's 40th birthday in Yosemite later this week. (Good heavens we're gettin' old). Well... it is just a number after all - a man-made device for measuring things. The only problem - not all things grow at the same rate. When is the last time you spent some time in the Opal Creek Wilderness? Go. Now.

Sept. 19th, 2007 • Where does the time go. You get locked into that 9-5 groove (or 8-6 in my case), and next thing you know - summer is gone. Well, Jenn and I were lucky enough to squeek in one rewarding trip to the Little North Fork of the Santiam for some sunning, swimming and relaxing last weekend (and poison oak- though kind of sad it wasn't until September that there was a hot, sunny weekend in Oregon this summer. Typical. Anyhow, Test Drive Videos work keeping the boy busy. Lots of other news to share. We'll be back soon!

July 26th, 2007 • Finally got the pro audio from a fellow Fishbone fan to add to my video from the Dante's show back in May. I've decided to start uploading tracks to YouTube so fellow Fishbone soldiers may enjoy. Check my YouTube musicvideo page here.

June 20, 2007 • Back to the motherland! Well... Canyon Creek Meadows on Three Fingered Jack that is... My cohorts and I have been visiting this spot for nearly 15 years now - and backcountry snowboarding and skiing nearly every time. Jeff, Pips and yours truly hit it up this last weekend, and I'm happy to report that the snow was phenomenal! The weather was pretty typical for mid-June in the Oregon mountains (partly cloudy/breezy), so the temps were just right to keep the corn snow preserved just right! Not too soft, not too icy. Great turns were had all weekend long. Looking forward to a return trip for wildflower viewing in August. Thanks Jeff and Pips! (photos from the trip at my flickr account)

June, 11, 2007 • And the Conway chapter closes. I'm very happy to announce my new position as Video Producer/Marketing Manager for Test Drive Videos here in Portland. After several years of struggling with video as a hobby - and graphic design as the paycheck - I couldn't be any happier to have a position that does both! Our company delivers video online and currently is specializing in the Auto Industry. Very excited about this opportunity - so the few of you out there that are actually reading this thing, you will be hearing more very soon!

May 27, 2007 • Check this Travel Buddy Site. Fun stuff. Here is mine:

May, 21, 2007 • As Portland continues moving in a progressive direction for supporting bicycling in our city - I'm encouraged to know that city planners here are well aware of the successes of European cities in their sidewalk/bikepath/parking/road systems. This clip does an outstanding job of illustrating how great it really is - from Street Films in New York: http://www.streetfilms.org/archives/physically-separated-bike-lanes/

May, 2007 • May is live music mania in Portland! Stay tuned for video clips from Sea & Cake, Fishbone, Secret Chiefs and more! Two Sea & Cake clips are up now at the "Shooting for Fun" section of my video page. Check back soon for the Fishbone - they were top notch and I shot 2 hours of footage on the DVX right in the middle of the madness of their Dante's gig. Stellar!

February, 2007 • Hey - it's 2007 now! - Yes, I'm painfully aware I haven't updated this sucker for months. Been too damn busy. So what has happened since November 17th of 2006? Geez... too much to wrap up in one paragraph. Here's a few highlights: a road trip to L.A. and Phoenix, lots of snow in Portland, which had me snowboarding up in the hills and down my street, tons of Con-way work which recently has included the production of corporate videos (and a trip to Michigan) - and finally finding the host for Snomad Television. JD Platt is on tap to guide America to many fine ski towns and resorts on our little show. We'll have links to snippets once we get 'em spliced up. In the meantime - take a trip through my links page for lots of e-loafing goodness - including a link to JD's webpage. Oh yeah - helping out as a shooter for this upcoming documentary about Bicycling in Portland. Meeting some cool cats along the way. Go to the links page - now! Cya! - ETK
